GRANDFIELD — A Tillman County man is in critical condition following a Sunday night wreck blamed on speeding through a turn.
Brandon W. Baker, 39, of Grandfield, was taken to United Regional Hospital in Wichita Falls, Texas, and then flown to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas, where he was admitted in critical condition with head, arm, leg and internal trunk injuries, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
Baker was driving a Ford F-350 pickup eastbound on U.S. 70 around 6:30 p.m. Sunday when he went off the asphalt roadway to the right, struck a culvert and rolled 1¼ times, ejecting the unseatbelted driver about 4 miles west of Grandfield, Trooper Marek Long reported.
Baker’s passenger, Michael K. Watson, 28, of Grandfield, was treated and released from Comanche County Memorial Hospital.
Traveling at an unsafe speed for a curve or turn was identified in the report as the wreck’s cause.
