ANADARKO — A Chickasha woman was treated for a gunshot wound to her elbow before being jailed for allegations she stabbed a couple of women during the incident.
Felony charges were filed Tuesday in Caddo County District Court for Kylee Nichole Byfield, 27, for two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, records indicate. Each count is punishable by up to 10 years in prison.
Caddo County Sheriff’s Deputy Chris Leal stated he was called shortly before 3:15 a.m. Saturday to a reported shooting and got information there also were two stabbing victims. Anadarko police stopped a vehicle leaving the scene carrying the two injured women and they were taken to Physicians Hospital in Anadarko, the probable cause affidavit states. They would later be flown to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City for treatment.
Before their transfer, Leal spoke with the women. One woman was “in extreme pain” with a seven-inch long and one-inch wide stab wound to her stomach, the affidavit states. The other woman identified Byfield from a photo and said she had a knife in her hand before stabbing her and the other woman, according to Leal.
Leal also learned Byfield had been shot in the elbow and transferred to OU Medical Center. She was arrested after being released from treatment.
Details about what led to the violence, including Byfield being shot, has not been released.
Following her initial appearance Tuesday afternoon, Byfield was freed on $25,000 bond, records indicate. She returns to court at 9 a.m. May 2 for her preliminary hearing conference.
