ALTUS — A Jackson County man is in jail following an Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) assisted investigation into sexual abuse of a minor.
According to the OSBI, the District Three District Attorney’s Office requested its assistance with a sexual assault case.
OSBI special agents began their investigation and identified the suspect as Damion Surles, 40.
Based on the information and evidence obtained, it was determined that Surles had interacted inappropriately with a minor, the OSBI stated in a release.
On Thursday, an arrest warrant was issued in Jackson County District Court for Surles and he was located and arrested for three counts of child sexual abuse. Surles was booked into the Jackson County Jail.
The OSBI credits the District Three District Attorney’s Office, Altus Police Department, and the District Three Attorney’s Drug and Violent Crimes Task Force for assisting with this case.
