Lawton police have released information regarding a Thursday night shooting on the city’s northwest side.
Officers were called shortly before 7:15 p.m. to 2801 NW 25th on the report of a shooting and found the victim, Jerry Jones, outside the home suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, said Sgt. Christopher Blessing, Lawton Police information officer. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment and is in stable condition.
The suspect, Alphonso Williams, was found by police inside the home and taken into custody, Blessing said.
“After interviewing Williams, he was arrested and booked into the Lawton City Jail for assault with a deadly weapon,” he said.
Court records indicate Williams, 30, of Lawton, has been out on $15,000 bond following an Aug. 7, 2023, initial appearance in Comanche County District Court where he received charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and assault and battery. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing at 9 a.m. April 19 for that case.
As of noon Friday, no charges have been filed for Thursday’s shooting.
