Lawton Public Schools will be having virtual days Thursday and Friday, according to the district Facebook page.
The decision was made due to the spreading of illness around the schools, which have likely contributed to a growth in absences seen by the administration. Other schools in the Oklahoma City and surrounding areas have also closed due to the spread of illness in recent weeks.
The virtual days, according to Lynn Cordes, Executive Director of Communications for LPS, will allow janitorial staff to clean and sanitize the schools to further prevent the spread of any illness.
After school activities will go on as planned unless those participating are otherwise notified.
For more information regarding classwork, students and parents are asked to refer to Rooms or Google Classrooms.
