LAWTON — The Comanche County Board of Commissioners finalized awards on Monday for two entities that will receive a share of the county’s American Rescue Plan Act dollars.
With little discussion, the commission voted 3-0 to approve notices of award to the town of Indiahoma and the Comanche County Fairgrounds Trust Authority.
Indiahoma received a $100,000 grant to install new water shut-off valves and replace two fire hydrants, and the Fairgrounds Trust Authority received a $175,000 grant to install a new heating, ventilation and air conditioning system in the annex building at the fairgrounds.
The county has received about $23 million in American Rescue Plan Act funds, part of the federal government’s efforts to help local units of government recover from the financial impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. The commission is using part of that money to help communities cover the cost of eligible projects.
