Trim the trees and hang the stockings as Cameron University’s Lawton and Duncan campuses celebrate the season with tree lighting ceremonies at different locations. CU-Duncan will have their celebration Dec. 3, while CU-Lawton will have theirs Dec. 4 at Bentley Gardens. Each will be at 6 p.m.
At Lawton’s campus, kids can stop by craft stations inside the McMahon Centennial Complex to create holiday themed trinkets, according to a press release. This year, there will be a new sensory-friendly room for those who want to get in the holiday spirit in a less-stimulating environment. Revelers can also enjoy a carriage ride, decorate holiday-themed cookies and enjoy hot cocoa, apple cider and eggnog. There will also be a fireworks display.
For those celebrating at the Duncan location, guests can look forward to a mini-train ride, cookie decorating and festive beverages, the release said.
“Cameron’s tree lighting ceremonies have been staples in the Lawton and Duncan communities,” Jari Askins, interim CU president said. “We look forward to seeing community members from southwest Oklahoma as we usher in the holiday season.”
Attendees will also receive a free Cameron commemorative tree ornament while supplies last, the release said. Ole Kim will also be at both locations.
Both events are free and open to the public.
