MEDICINE PARK —The Comanche County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a fatal fight from Wednesday night at the Medicine Park Tavern.
Sheriff Kenny Stradley said deputies were called around 11:30 p.m. to the bar, 198 E. Lake Drive, on the report of a disturbance. They arrived to find people giving CPR to a man lying on the floor near the front door. That person died at the scene and was taken to the Oklahoma Medical Examiner’s office in Oklahoma City to determine cause of death.
“Two people had got into it and one got knocked down,” he said. “They had a pretty good little tussle.”
The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation was brought in to work the crime scene and deputies were assisted by Medicine Park police with questioning witnesses.
One man was booked into the Comanche County Detention Center but had not been charged as of Thursday afternoon.
“As of this time, it’s still under investigation,” Stradley said.
The death by homicide is one of the first non-vehicular cases in the county in quite some time. Stradley knocked on his wood desk in hopes it would be the last, at least through his tenure; he’s retiring after 32 years in the post after the election of the new sheriff.
