The Lawton-Fort Sill Chamber of Commerce had its monthly luncheon Friday at the Country Club, 4601 W. Gore, where the State of the Arts were discussed and the 2024 Arts and Cultural Award winners announced.
The State of the Arts Luncheon is a collaboration of Arts For All, The Lawton Fort Sill Chamber of Commerce and the City of Lawton, Jason Poudrier, City of Lawton Arts and Humanities Administrator said. The luncheon serves as the fundraising kick off for Arts For All.
The Lawton Arts & Cultural Awards honor individuals who enrich the community through arts and humanities, according to a presentation from the luncheon. Since 1971, the City of Lawton and it’s art council have recognized citizens for their cultural impact. The McMahon Auditorium Authority Arts and Humanities Committee selects one artist, purchasing three pieces of artwork for $600, which are awarded to the three winners.
