Fall is as good a time as any to decorate your home in a cozy, yet fun way. What better way to do that than finding locally made arts and crafts?
The Frederick Arts & Humanities Council is having their 52nd annual Arts ‘n Action arts and crafts fair 10 a.m to 4 p.m. September 21 at 201 N. Main St.
Carol Hefner, Secretary and Treasurer of the Arts Council, said the fair is held every third Saturday of September. All artists can sell their authentic, hand-crafted works including paintings, sculptures and jewelry.
There are purchase awards available for patrons to buy merchandise ahead of time, Hefner said. Patrons can use them as gift cards that can be used at any art booth. There are also Secret Shoppers who can buy things that patrons originally couldn’t get in their first visit. Even with these options, patrons can still buy their goods with cash, check or card.
There will also be secret professional judges who will select certain artists for 1st, 2nd or 3rd place prizes for 2D and 3D art work, Hefner said.
The deadline for entries has been extended until Monday. No refunds will be made after that.
The fair is free and open to the public. Entries are open to artists and craftspeople exhibiting their own original works. Only original arts and crafts will be accepted. Works purchased by the exhibitor for resale will not be allowed. The Frederick Arts & Humanities Council reserves the right to require the removal of unacceptable work. No refunds will be made for non-compliant exhibitors.
