Active-shooter training set for first responders, military and educational professionals

ARDMORE — Lighthouse Behavioral Wellness Centers is partnering with N&F Training Solutions to sponsor a multi-day training conference to prepare law enforcement, military, educational and mental health personnel for active-shooter incidents and post-event mental health challenges.

The Active Shooter Training Conference will be June 25-28 at the Ardmore Conference Center, 2401 N. Rockford Road, Ardmore. The training conference is designed for first responders such as police, fire, emergency medical service and 911 dispatch workers; active-duty and retired military personnel; mental-health professionals; school administrators and teachers.

While each of the conference speakers will present firsthand case studies with details of several of the largest active-shooter/mass-shooting incidents across the country, all of the speakers will include a candid discussion of their own mental health struggles and the after-effects the trauma of such events it had on their families.

The Active Shooter Conference program includes presentations by:

•Nick Koahua, sergeant, Redlands, California, police department (San Bernardino mass shooting)

•Brian Murphy, retired lieutenant, Oak Creek, Wisconsin, police department (Sikh temple mass shooting)

•Jad Lanigan, commander, and Mike Daily, retired lieutenant, Aurora, Colorado, police department (Aurora theater mass shooting)

•Daniel Canete, corporal, Dallas police department, (Dallas July 7, 2016, shooting)

•A.J. DeAndrea, retired deputy chief, Arvada, Colorado, police department (Columbine and Platte Canyon high schools mass shootings)
