Lawton Police Department held a ceremony Friday for the promotion of Justin Johnson to Lieutenant.
“I think Lieutenant is probably the most important (promotion),” said Deputy Chief Will Hines.
“Because you are the link between the rank and file, the guys doing the work, the boots on the street, and the main office,” said Hines.
Johnson was raised in North Pole, Alaska before moving to Lawton in 2010 and graduating from Eisenhower High School, in 2011. Johnson has served on the Lawton Police Department for over 10 years, both in patrol and the criminal investigation division.
Johnson was excited to step into the new stage of his career: “I’m excited for the new challenges. I’ve had the opportunity to learn a lot in my career, this is a great opportunity to pass on what I’ve learned to others.”
Johnson recalled his time in the department with fondness, calling the positions he’s held “an opportunity to help the people who need the help, provide justice for people who need justice, and being a supportive member of our community.”
