Steps Under the Stars and Stripes, 24-Hour Veterans Day Walk, starting today at Lawton Fort Sill Veterans Center, 501 SE Flower Mound Road. Opening ceremony at 12:30 p.m. today, with flag presentation at 12:45 p.m. to the first group. Walk to begin at 1 p.m. and conclude at 1 p.m. Saturday, with ending ceremony at 1:30 p.m. Saturday. Saturday’s events include static displays from Fort Sill, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Information at (580) 512-4487.

Cameron University veterans events today: Free lunch for active duty and veterans 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m., Shepler Towers Cafeteria; posting of colors by Cameron ROTC, 1 p.m. in Veterans Grove, north side of Howell Hall along West Gore Boulevard. Ceremony to include National Anthem and minute of silence; guest speaker Col. Michael Stewart, commander of 434th Field Artillery Brigade.

Flag Retirement Ceremony, 6 p.m. today, VFW Post 5263, 103 NE 20th. Ceremony to retire unserviceable flags; $5 donation to retire a flag in honor of someone. Clement Shaw, 695-9172. Sponsored by VFW Post 5263, AMBUCS and local scout troops.

Museum open house at the General Tommy Franks Leadership Institute and Museum, 2-5 p.m. today, 507 S. Main Street, Hobart. Free gift for every veteran.

Veterans Day Ceremony by Comanche County Veterans Council, 11 a.m. Saturday, Patriot Pavilion at Elmer Thomas Park at park’s Northwest 3rd Street entrance. Guest speaker: Daniel Mabry.

10th annual Veterans Powwow, 2-10 p.m. Saturday, Watchetaker Hall of the Comanche Nation Complex, 584 NW Bingo Road. Schedule: 2 p.m., gourd dance; 5-6 p.m., supper break; evening agenda begins at 6 p.m. Contests women’s cloth, men’s lulu, teen girls cloth, men’s straight, tiny tot and teen boys straight. Free admission.

Sunset Memorial Gardens 35th annual Veterans Day Ceremony, 2 p.m. Saturday, in cemetery’s Veterans Field of Honor, 8700 Cache Road.

Medicine Park Veterans Day parade, 2 p.m. Saturday starting by the water plant. Also entertainment at various locations in town: Smiling Bob English Band, 1 p.m., The Healthy Hippy; BanD’s LIGHTHOUSE, 3-4 p.m. Hitchin’ Post Park and 6-8 p.m. at Small Mountain Street Tacos; Daniel Katsuk, 7-10 p.m. Fancy Nancy’s Bar & Grill; Garage Mahalix, 8:30-10:30 p.m. Medicine Park Music Hall.
