This week’s schedule begins Thursday with powerful Carl Albert coming to Cameron Stadium Thursday to meet Eisenhower in a battle that will draw plenty of attention as the Titans are once again the biggest threat to take the Class 5A titles.

Friday MacArthur goes for another city championship after dispatching Eisenhower Friday by an impressive 57-20 victory after seeing the Eagles lead at halftime.

Anadarko got a big win this past week, routing Bridge Creek, 42-18, and now the Warriors will make the short drive to Chickasha to face the arch-rival Chicks who took it on the chin from Marlow, 35-7.

Elgin had no trouble with Dallas Hillcrest, holding the visitors to very little offensive yardage while producing 58 points in the shutout win. The Owls will have a bye this week.

Cache visits Altus Friday and both clubs will be looking for their first wins after the Bulldogs lost to Duncan, 20-14, and Altus lost to Elk City, 28-14.

Cyril flexed its muscle again by routing Burns Flat-Dill City, setting up a road game at Empire this week.

Mighty Tipton continued to roll, beating Snyder, 56-16, and now the Tigers will host a good Hollis club Friday at Don Royal Stadium.

Walters got a 54-12 win over Healdton to give Farron Griffin his first win since returning to the Blue Devils’ helm. Things get tougher this week as the Blue Devils drive to Velma-Alma.

The Blue Devils used a nifty 65-yard run by Caden Griffin to get in position for John Fremin to run 20 yards for the first touchdown.

The visitors from Healdton could do little on offense and when the snap to the punter went over his head, the Blue Devils had to go just 18 yards to score and B.J. Palmer handled that with ease.

Palmer then got another score, this time coming up from his linebacker position to jump in front of a Healdton pass and return it 49 yards to paydirt and the Blue Devils were in command for good.

Other scores from last week had Carnegie losing a 42-40 thriller to Hinton, Mt. View-Gotebo losing to Maysville in another thriller, 28-26, and Comanche losing to Wynnewood, 27-8.

Games this week include the following: Childress at Frederick, Comanche at Kingston, Fox at Central High, Grandfield at Snyder, Guthrie at Duncan, Minco at Apache, and Sayre at Carnegie.

Elgin didn’t know what to expect out of Dallas Hillcrest but it was all Owls from the start as Ritson Meyer produced the first four scores for the Owls on runs of 27, 1, and 1, plus he sandwiched those runs around a 66-yard pass from Tres Lorah.

Braxten Antuna added a 90-yard TD run, Brice Martin returned an interception 28 yards for a score, Lorah hit Kason Meyer on a 9-yard TD pass and Antuna tackled the Hillcrest QB in the end zone for a safety as the Owls scored in just about every manner possible.

Hillcrest finished with minus-59 yards rushing and 48 total yards while the Owls racked up 537 yards.

The Owls will now have a week off after starting off with a 2-0 record. Chalmer Wyatt’s club will get a tougher test when Newcastle comes to town on Sept. 20.
