Take a break and enjoy Fall’s favors

Don’t blink. You might miss it.

We’re smack dab in the middle of one of the two times each year in which Oklahomans aren’t fighting temperatures that are beastly hot or teeth-chattering cold. And while other parts of the nation are caught up in troublesome times, we choose to think of all the things that make us glad we live here.

If you wanted to catch up on the performance of one of the local football teams, Friday night’s weather was fantastic. The good news is that, if you missed it, you’ll have another opportunity this week.

And they’re looking for some volunteers to help set up for Holiday in the Park. A story in last week’s Constitution outlined some of the work session times. And with Halloween headed our way quickly, there are more and more events to take advantage of, if for no other reason than just to see some creative costumes.

We also had to marvel last week about the local community’s opportunity to showcase state efforts on both tourism and the arts. We’re certain there are lots of folks statewide who don’t really think of us on those two fronts, but they were given a grand opportunity last week. We also couldn’t help but smile when folks from the library came by recently to showcase their new program of postcards featuring more than a dozen of the local murals that beautify the community – a beautiful merging of art and tourism.

We’ll grin and bear it as the city continues to move forward with some loooonnnggg overdue infrastructure projects because we know they’re needed and will help us and our neighbors. And the FISTA keeps moving forward, announcing plans to renovate another 10,000 square feet of unproductive space into something that will bring jobs and economic stability to the region as it continues to progress.

We can be guilty as the next person, if you really want to find something to moan and groan about. But we’ve published a number of really great stories last week about things worth celebrating. Let’s focus on that while enjoying the wonderful weather.
