The “Springo” cards that were inserted into The Constitution in June contained numerous errors and have caused confusion among readers. The paper will be re-issuing a corrected set of cards on July 19 and start the program over.
“A reader initially brought the error to our attention,” said publisher David Stringer. “We immediately contacted the company we purchased them from and they acknowledged a problem on their end and provided a replacement set that we’ll distribute tomorrow.”
“We thought a bingo-type program might be something readers found enjoyable and we’re sorry for the confusion it created,” Stringer said. “We felt like there was no way to make sense of the other set, so we’ll replace them and start the whole program over with cards tomorrow. Ads with the new set of numbers to mark on your cards will start July 21 and run through Aug. 24. Three numbers will appear in random ads in each day’s Constitution.”
Readers that are participating should discard any cards they’ve received and track their chances of winning on the new set which will be in their papers July 19.
