Investigators said a woman caught with drugs after being accused of stealing ice cream and snacks at a convenience store is a drug trafficker.
A tip leading to a search of her home turned up thousands of fentanyl pills.
Dae’Shawna Ashanae Robinson, 22, of Lawton, made her initial appearance Wednesday in Comanche County District Court where she received two sets of charges.
In the first case, Robinson was charged with a felony count of aggravated fentanyl trafficking as well as misdemeanor counts of possession of alprazolam, possession of drug paraphernalia and petit larceny, records indicate.
Robinson also is charged separately with felony counts of aggravated fentanyl trafficking, maintaining a place for keeping/selling drugs, acquiring proceeds from drug activity and unlawful use of a phone in the commission of a felony, and a misdemeanor count of possession of drug paraphernalia.
The investigation into Robinson first began shortly after 1 a.m. Dec. 18, 2023, following a citizen’s stop of shoplifters at Stripes Convenience Store, No. 2 SW 11th. Robinson and two other women were stopped by police.
Robinson and another woman were asked if they had stolen anything and she turned over a bag of candy in her pocket; inside her jacket, police found an ice cream sandwich tucked inside, the probable cause affidavit states. Robinson was seen picking up items and putting them in her jacket and handing others to one of the other women, Lawton Police Detective Jeff McCoy stated. She had $13.47 in items on her, according to police.
While being booked into the City Jail, police found 104 fentanyl pills, four alprazolam pills and a $20 bill rolled up with a rubber band containing white residue, the affidavit states. Three cut straws and $272 in cash were also recovered.
Detectives from the Special Operations Unit conducted a Feb. 19 search warrant execution at Robinson’s home at 2815 NW 24th following a tip she was staying there and selling fentanyl, according to the affidavit. She was found inside a bedroom along with a large amount of the fentanyl pills in baggies on the bed, multiple items of drug paraphernalia, and a large amount of money, McCoy stated.
There was one baggie containing crushed pills weighing 3.70 grams, and the multiple baggies contained a total of 3,589 pills, along with $3,202 in cash, the affidavit states.
Robinson received separate $40,000 bonds for her charges — $80,000 in total — and returns to court at 3 p.m. May 7 for her preliminary hearing conferences, records indicate.
