Lawton police have made an arrest of a suspect in Wednesday afternoon shooting and carjacking.
Officers were called shortly before 2 p.m. to 2308 NW 44th to a shooting and found Dakota Teel suffering a gunshot wound in the groin/leg area, according to Sgt. Christopher Blessing, Lawton Police Department information officer. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
Teel told investigators he’d driven to his friend’s house and while speaking, a man identified as Brenden Henry came outside with a gun and demanded his belongings and car before shooting him. Teel ran to a nearby house to call for help and Henry stole the car, Blessing said.
Police received a call shortly before 4 p.m. of a man slumped over in a vehicle. They discovered it was Henry in Teel’s car, according to Blessing.
Henry was arrested and booked into the Lawton City Jail for robbery and possession of a stolen vehicle, Blessing said. The jail booking sheet also lists threatening to perform an act of violence as a booking charge for him.
Charges in Comanche County District Court are expected to be filed imminently.
