A jury trial was averted Wednesday after a Lawton man pleaded guilty to committing a robbery in April 2023.
Brian Keith Lindsey, 28, pleaded guilty Wednesday in Comanche County District Court for a felony count of first-degree robbery by force or fear, records indicate.
District Judge Scott D. Meaders sentenced Lindsey to 10 years with the Department of Corrections with 10 months to spend in the Comanche County Detention Center and the balance suspended.
With the plea, Lindsey accepted guilt to breaking into a home in the 500 block of Southwest 18th Street on April 19, 2023, and clubbing a man with a broken table leg and a mallet before taking his car keys and wallet. The victim, who suffered injuries and mobility issues, called police the next day and Lindsey was arrested.
Lindsey has been in jail on $75,000 bond since his initial court appearance April 24, 2023. He is serving his sentence with no credit for time served.
