The American Red Cross has opened a comfort center at the Great Plains Coliseum Annex for those impacted by Thursday night’s tornadoes.
The Annex, 920 S. Sheridan, has snacks, coffee, water and information available, according to Mark Trotter, Regional Communications Director for the American Red Cross Kansas — Oklahoma Region.
“The Red Cross works with local officials and other relief organizations to meet the urgent needs of communities affected by disasters like these tornadoes,” he said. “More than a dozen trained disaster workers are currently supporting this relief operation.”

Following a disaster, people reach out to ask how they can best help, Trotter said.
“Financial donations are the quickest and best way to support people impacted by disasters,” he said. “A financial donation to the Red Cross helps provide shelter, meals, relief supplies, comfort and other assistance during disasters.”
All Red Cross assistance is free and available to anyone in need. Help is also available by calling 1-800-RED CROSS.
