Residents who want to have a voice in crafting Lawton’s new transportation plan will have two chances this week.
Community workshops are scheduled from 5-6:30 p.m. today in the Banquet Room of Lawton City Hall, Southwest 9th and Southwest C Avenue; and 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Friday at the H.C. King Community Center, 1705 NW 20th. Both sessions are “come and go,” so residents can offer their own comments and questions about potential projects, city officials said.
Members of the Lawton Metropolitan Planning Organization are teaming with consulting firm Kimley-Horn to create the 2050 Metropolitan Transportation Plan. That document is designed to guide transportation projects in the community through 2050, with those projects to include roads, sidewalks and biking/walking trails that could qualify for federal funding.
