A woman pleaded guilty Tuesday to ditching her GPS ankle monitor and contact with the Oklahoma Department of Corrections.
Amanda Marie Hebb, 37, of Lawton, pleaded guilty in Comanche County District Court to a felony count of escaping from the Oklahoma Department of Corrections, records indicate.
Chief District Judge Grant Sheperd ordered her to serve her six-year sentence concurrently with her sentences for prior felony convictions in Comanche County: a five-year deferred sentence from a November 2020 plea to a count of embezzlement; a five-year suspended sentence from an August 2022 plea to a count of second-degree burglary and another five-year suspended sentence to a count of uttering a forged instrument, records indicate.
An arrest warrant was issued Feb. 14 for Hebb for the escape charge. She had been released in August 2023 from Eddie Warner Correctional Center to the Lawton Probation and Parole office for its GPS program. According to the warrant affidavit, she had a GPS home zone violation on Dec. 19, 2023, and a call to her went to voice mail.
Hebb ‘s battery was unable to connect to the satellite due to a “critically low” battery three days later. She had last charged it on Dec. 21, 2023, at her home at 1415 NW 22nd, the affidavit states. Probation and Parole Officer Richard Wilson stated he was unable to find Hebb at her home and officials had not been able to contact her.
Hebb also has prior felony convictions from El Paso County, Texas: November 2013, fraudulent use of a credit card number, theft – possession with intent to use; and December 2011, carrying a weapon with unlawful intent, records indicate.
