DUNCAN — An arrest warrant was issued for a 60-year-old Marlow man accused of calling in a bomb threat to his ex-wife’s job.
The Stephens County District Court issued a felony arrest warrant Monday for Gene Lambert Gibson for a count of making a telephone bomb threat, records indicate. The crime is punishable by between three to 10 years in prison and/or a fine up to $10,000.
Marlow emergency dispatchers received a call shortly after 12:45 p.m. June 3 from an unknown man who said there was a bomb at Barb’s Restaurant, 1204 N. Broadway, and it would explode in 30 minutes, Officer Ronnie Branch stated.
Upon arrival, the restaurant owner told Branch she knew who’d made the bomb threat because he’d been calling non-stop that day, the warrant affidavit states. She said it was Gibson, the ex-husband of one of her employees and he was upset she wouldn’t talk to him, Branch stated. Police evacuated the building.
Gibson’s ex-wife told police he’d harassed her many times before and played voicemails he’d left her, the affidavit states. She was taken to the police station to listen to the call to dispatch and identified the voice as Gibson’s.
The ex-wife also provided text messages Gibson had sent her son stating he was going to close down the restaurant, according to the affidavit.
A $25,000 cash warrant bond was issued upon Gibson’s arrest.
