MacArthur girls and boys earned a rather easy road sweep against Oklahoma City Southeast Friday and in the process both teams improved their all-important district records with the regionals just a couple weeks away.
The Mac girls had little trouble routing Southeast, 78-22, then the Highlanders earned a 89-67 victory over the Spartans in the boys game. The Mac girls climbed to 7-1 in District 5A-2, which is good for second, and Otis Gentry’s club is 11-4 overall. The Mac teams have two more district games including a key road doubleheader at Midwest City on Feb. 9 as both MWC clubs are currently leading District 5A-2.
The Mac boys climbed to 6-2 which has the Highlanders in third place behind MWC and Del City.
While Mac was on the road Eisenhower visited Lawton High to renew that long rivalry. The Ike girls coasted to an easy win to climb to 3-6 in District 6A-2 while the LHS boys had little trouble in earning an easy victory, raining in treys in the first half to build a commanding 66-28 halftime lead to climb to 5-4 in district which currently has them in fourth after Putnam West knocked off Northwest Classen Friday in another district battle.
