Thank you for the Constitution’s front page story about 2nd Lt. Wayne Dyer. Recounts of the stories of heroes such as Lt. Dyer are so important.
My father, Alfred Ashton, Jr. was a bombardier in a B-17 out of England during the same time as Lt. Dyer. The navigator on his plane was also killed. My dad survived his tour of service, but many did not. I think it is so important that we remember the stories of World War II and other wars. Human loss and disability is the only certain reality of war. This reality needs to be at the forefront of all plans made in response to any threat to our country.
