Cameron University’s men’s basketball team had Lone Star Conference power Lubbock Christian on the ropes in the first half but the Eagles dominated in the second half to earn a 87-73 victory Thursday in the Aggie Gym.
The Aggies were up 45-36 at halftime but the visitors came out smoking in the second half and outscored CU by a 51-28 margin to get the important victory. CU came in at 4-1 in the LSC standings and LCU was 4-0 and for a time it appeared the Aggies might pull off the upset.
But the visitors hit 16 of 34 treys and that was the difference at the end.
The LCU women also won Thursday, 63-48, using a 17-5 scoring edge in the fourth quarter to keep the Aggies from mounting a comeback.
Both CU teams will have another tough test Saturday when West Texas A&M comes to the Aggie Gym for a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
