OKLAHOMA CITY — Two Southwest Oklahoma High School students are among 50 high school students statewide serving on the 2024-2025 Oklahoma Hall of Fame Teen Board.
The Teen Board is comprised of high school students from across the state dedicated to learning about Oklahoma’s history and people while supporting the Oklahoma Hall of Fame’s educational programs. Board members include Kemyra Cole, Lawton, and Alonzo Simpson, Walters.
The Oklahoma Hall of Fame Teen board offers students in grades nine through 12 the opportunity to meet and learn from Oklahomans who are changing the world, while learning real-world skills and develop deeper connections to their communities. The Teen Board is responsible for planning and implementing an annual fundraiser benefiting the Oklahoma Hall of Fame/Gaylord-Pickens Museum’s Free Field Trip Program which offers field trips at no cost to schools across Oklahoma. To date, the Teen Board has raised nearly $350,000 through its fundraising efforts.
Teen Board members were selected following an application and interview process, with a term of service from August 2024 to March 2025. During the eight-month term, members will participate in professional development sessions, fundraising efforts and volunteer opportunities, and will get a chance to meet influential Oklahomans including Oklahoma Hall of Fame members. Additionally, they will network with like-minded peers from across the state and have the ability to earn a spot serving as a liaison for honorees and dignitaries at the Oklahoma Hall of Fame induction ceremony.
