Lawton Public Schools yearbooks, students earn awards

Lawton Public Schools yearbook programs and students earned awards from Oklahoma Scholastic Media (OSM) at the University of Oklahoma on Nov. 2.

Two high schools and one middle school were recognized at the OSM Fall Media Day conference for their 2023 yearbooks.

MacArthur High School’s “Highlander” yearbook, advised last year by Ashley Romero and currently by Mercedes Phillips, received All-Oklahoma Award Division II and Highest Honors Award Division II.

Individual awards for MHS included Cate Dennis: Academic Story second place; Lexi Bellamy and Seneca Phair: Portrait Page or Spread honorable mention; Madison Hunt, Kennedi Smith and Cara Prock: Organization Spread honorable mention; Mikaela Richard and Austin Hunyh: Feature Presentation third place; Lexi Bellamy: Academic Photo honorable mention; Madison Hunt, Organization Photo first place; Sophia Nunez: Social Media Strategy Award; Mikaela Richard and Avery Shaw: Student Life Story first place, Multi-Topic Spread third place and Student Life Spread honorable mention; and Gracie Cunningham: OSM Diversity Award, Packaging and Structure first place, Endsheets third place, and Theme Development and Copy honorable mention.

Eisenhower High School’s “Talon” yearbook, advised by Sheila Maxson, received All-Oklahoma Award Division II, Highest Honors Award Division II, and honorable mention in the Cover and First Impression category.

Individual awards for EHS included Jimena Harrison: Academic Spread first place and Organization Story second place; Alexus Smith: Student Life Spread second place and Sports Spread third place; Serenity Hutchinson: Organization Spread second place; Hope Cho: Personality Profile Story third place; Abigayle Disney: Academic Story third place; and Moesha Eugene: Personality Profile Story honorable mention.

MacArthur Middle School’s “Curadh” yearbook, advised by Bethany Morlett, received the Honors Award for Division III.
