Lawton Public Library and the Oklahoma Healthy Aging Initiative will host a six-week series of Tai Chi for Better Balance classes, beginning Jan. 6.
The class will teach participants ways to improve their overall mind, body, and spirit through a series of slow, continuous movements. The movements of the Chinese marital art Tai Chi can help seniors reduce the risk of falling, increase balance, and increase flexibility, experts said. It does not matter how strong, flexible, or active you are, as Tai Chi is designed for people at all levels of health.
Although Tai Chi targets seniors, the classes are open to anyone.
Tai Chi classes will be held at 11 a.m. every Monday and Wednesday Jan. 6 through Feb. 17 at the Patterson Center, 4 NE Arlington. Space is limited and registration is required by emailing [email protected] or calling (580) 581-3450, extension 4.
Additional information is available by contacting Tanya Organ, community engagement librarian, (580) 581-3450, extension 1711, or by email at [email protected].
