Last of trio of brothers pleads to 2023 beating, stabbing, robbery

The last of a trio of brothers accused of a January 2023 beating of a man with a bat, before stabbing and robbing him.

On Tuesday, Ramon Flores Martinez, 37, pleaded guilty in Comanche County to felony counts of conjoint robbery and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, records indicate.

District Judge Grant Sheperd sentenced him to two concurrent 20 year prison sentences and he must register as a violent offender.

Two other brothers, Juan Carlos Martinez, 40, and Lorenzo Flores Martinez, 36, were also charged in connection.

Juan Martinez pleaded guilty in September 2024 to counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, resisting police and possession of methamphetamine. He is serving 10 years in prison.

Lorenzo Martinez pleaded guilty in December 2023 to a count of second-degree robbery and received a 20 year sentence with 10 years to serve and 10 years suspended.

The victim told police he was at Lorenzo Martinez’s home at 304 SW 13th when they got into a fight and his host began to punch him, the probable cause affidavit states. Juan Martinez pleaded guilty to grabbing a bat and hitting the man several times, including once in the forehead.

Lorenzo Martinez admitted guilty in stealing property from the man’s bag as Ramon Martinez then began to stab him, according to the victim, who was able to run away. He was taken to a local hospital and treated for multiple injuries.

Juan Martinez was arrested soon after and told police he and Lorenzo Martinez had only meant to scare the victim, not kill him, the affidavit states. He admitted to hitting the man with a metal bat.

Ramon Martinez, a Sureno gang member, had become mad at the other man over a gang-related issue and began stabbing him repeatedly before his brothers pulled him off the victim while thinking he was going to kill him, Juan Martinez told police.
