A Comanche County jury found a 54-year-old Kentucky man guilty of two counts of lewd molestation of a 12-year-old girl in 2016.
Following three days of trial in Chief District Judge Scott D. Meaders’ court, the jury convicted Richard Ivon Johnson, of Paducah, Ky., of the two counts and recommended he spend 20 years in prison for each count.
The jury found Johnson not guilty of counts of first-degree rape of a victim under the age of 14 and another count of rape by instrumentation, records indicate.
The girl testified that Johnson sexually assaulted her multiple times in 2016 when she was 12 years old. She also claimed he’d groped her at different times during sleepovers.
Johnson has been in jail on $50,000 bond since his initial court appearance on Dec. 14, 2022.
After requesting a pre-sentencing investigation, Johnson will be formally sentenced at 9:30 a.m. Dec. 7, records indicate. He remains held in the Comanche County Detention Center without bond while awaiting sentencing.
