A Lawton man has been found guilty twice, of different charges, on the current Comanche County jury docket.
This week, a Comanche County jury split its decision following the trial of a 23-year-old man for allegations he shot into an occupied Lawton home in March 2020.
Quamail Quameer Willis, a.k.a., Quameil Quameek Willis, 23, was on trial for felony charges of discharging a firearm into a dwelling and possession of a firearm after delinquent adjudication, records indicate.
The jury found Willis not guilty of shooting into a home but did find him guilty of gun possession and recommended he serve seven years in prison for the crime.
District Judge Scott D. Meaders ordered a pre-sentence investigation and Willis will be formally sentenced in the coming weeks.
Willis was accused of a March 2020 shooting into a home in the 2400 block of Northwest 42nd Street. The home had been shot “numerous times while the residence was occupied by two juvenile children,” along with an adult nephew, according to the probable cause affidavit. No one was injured in the incident.
During the first week of the docket, Willis was found guilty Jan. 23 of gun and gang charges following two days of trial.
The jury recommended Willis serve five years in prison for each felony count and on Wednesday, Meaders made their recommendations official.
