Fifth Annual Native Naturals Bodybuilding set for June 8

The North American Natural Bodybuilding Federation (NANBF) will host its fifth annual Native Naturals competition June 8 at McMahon Memorial Auditorium, 801 NW Ferris.

The show begins at 10 a.m. and lasts all day in a continuous format. The public is invited to witness the dedication and art of bodybuilding and physique.

Competitors will showcase their physique and efforts in bodybuilding in multiple categories. The top five competitors in each category will receive a custom Native Natural Classic medal. About 20 participants have signed up.

Anyone who has a hobby in bodybuilding may register. Entry fee of $105 is required as well as another $80 for each additional event.

Mandy Taylor Johnson from Fierce Fitness explained to me how competitors from this competition could have a chance at competing nationally. She told me that competitors who win enough showcases over time are considered International Pro Elite pros. Athletes at Native Naturals have the chance to be considered a pro and go on to the world championship in Liberty, Mo., if their placement is high enough in their respective categories.

According to the Native Naturals website, participants will be drug tested prior to the event, as it is strictly enforced by the North American Natural Bodybuilding Federation to ensure an equal and fair showcase. Competitors must also register with the North American Natural Bodybuilding Federation prior to the event and check in with their membership card the night before the show.

In recognition of Native Natural’s fifth annual competition, a donation will be made to Play Lawton, an organization that encourages kids and adults to be involved in athletics and fitness. Attendees also can donate until the presentation of the check during the competition’s intermission.

Tickets cost $30 for adults, $20 for Lawton Public Schools employees, and $10 for kids and may be purchased at the door.
