ELGIN – A new addition to the inaugural Elgin Family Fall Festival has been
introduced.
Elgin Chamber of Commerce announced the city’s first fall festival during its July
13 meeting. The October 1 event will be held at the Elgin baseball fields and
feature carnival games, food, a petting zoo and costume contests, Southwest
Chronicle recently reported.
On Tuesday Chamber Vice President Kayley Sandy informed that My Little Pearl
Bowtique is sponsoring the Miss and Mr. Fall Pageant.
Based on age groups of 0-3, 4-6, 7-9 and 10-12 years of age, contestants will be
judged in two categories: Best Fall Dressed and Most Photogenic.
Along with a photo, contestants, parents or legal guardians must fill out an “all
about me” application and sell at least 30 one-dollar carnival tickets to be eligible.
Applications are available at My Little Pearl Bowtique, 7796 U.S. Highway 277 in
Elgin. Friday, Sep. 9 is the last day to sign up for the pageant. Last day to turn in or
buy advance tickets Friday, Sep. 23.
Winners will be announced at 3 p.m. at the festival. Contestants must be present to
win.
