Entities host annual Women’s Business Summit

Women are always fighting tooth and nail to break the glass ceiling. Their fight for equal pay, respect and positive reinforcement is not something to be trifled with. Especially if they want to start a business.

Next Thursday, a local event can help them get one step closer to their goals.

Great Plains Technology Center (GPTC), REI Women’s Business Center, Arvest Bank and other entities are hosting the 4th annual SWOK Women’s Business Summit from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. September 19 at the GPTC Worley Center, 4500 SW Lee Blvd.

The summit is an opportunity for entrepreneurs, industry leaders and aspiring business owners to connect, collaborate and learn from one another, according to a press release. Guests can learn from a panel of small business owners and representatives in the banking, accounting, insurance and legal industries to help with their goals.

The event will also feature vendors from a variety of local businesses showing their products and services, providing attendees with opportunities for new partnerships and ideas, the release said.

This year’s summit will feature keynote speaker Tavian Harris, the award-winning founder and Executive Director of Seasons of Change Inc. (SOC), the release said. Seasons of Change is a well-known nonprofit organization committed to empowering vulnerable and marginalized youth and families in need.

This year, there will be a new speed networking session, the release said. Attendees will also have the opportunity to get updated headshots by professional photographer, Britz Photography.
