The Comanche Indian Veterans Association (CIVA) France Delegation is hosting a pair of events this weekend to assist with costs to attend the 80th D-Day Anniversary in Normandy, France.
The events are meant to allow the delegation the opportunity to honor a Comanche legacy to history, the Comanche Code Talkers who sent coded messages during the World War II Normandy invasion, according to Commander Kevin Pohawpatchoko.
The first event is a bingo fundraiser from 7 to 10 p.m. Friday at the Lawton Farmers Market, 77 SW 4th.
Games are: 20 games for $20, three cards per sheet; and three special games (not included).
There will also be a cake walk and a concession stand available with meat pies for $8.
On Saturday, the CIVA will host an Indian taco sale from 11 a.m. until sold out at St. Ann’s Church Parish Hall, 8492 Oklahoma 17 in Elgin.
Cost for taco, drink and dessert is $10 and frybread alone is $2.
Call 580-919-1065 for delivery.
All proceeds from both events is going towards D-Day anniversary costs, according to Pohawpatchoko.
