There’s a new addition to the Cameron University family.
Jennifer Evans was named director of the Eugene D. McMahon Library in August, according to a press release. Her role oversees all library operations, including staffing and training, budgeting, acquisitions and collection develop, technical services, the Tutoring Center and more.
Because of her professional career as an academic librarian, it seems Evans knows what she’s doing, Dr. Marge Kingsley, Vice President for Academic Affairs said.
“She is a creative and innovative thinker who prioritizes student needs to help them succeed in their academic pursuits,” Kingsley said. “She brings direct experience and expertise in virtually all of the Eugene D. McMahon LIbrary’s functions.”
Evans joined Cameron as a staff librarian in 2021 and recently served as acting assistant director, the release said. She earned a Masters of Library Science from the University of North Texas and holds Bachelor of Arts degrees in English and History from Midwestern State University.
Evans has an extensive background in academic libraries including serving as director of library services at Western Texas College, where she was the only degree-holding librarian, the release said. Her professional experience includes access services, reference assistance and instruction.
