The Lawton Fort Sill Chamber of Commerce will kick off its annual Armed Forces Day Parade at 10 a.m. Saturday.
Before the parade, this year’s Grand Marshal, Fort Sill Commander Maj. Gen. Winston P. Brooks, will officiate the swearing in of soldiers at 11th Street and W. Gore Blvd.
The parade line up will begin at 200 SW C Avenue. The parade will then proceed to 11th Street, make a right on 11th Street and go up 11th Street/Fort Sill Boulevard to Northwest Ferris Avenue, where it will enter Elmer Thomas Park. Spectators can watch the full parade along Southwest C Avenue, 11th Street/Fort Sill Boulevard and Northwest Ferris Avenue.
Immediately after the parade will be a celebration in the park from noon to 2 p.m.
Live music by Signal 4 Band will be at the event, as well as vendors, static displays, activities for the kids, food trucks and bounce houses.
Almost 100 entries, including many from Fort Sill, will be in the parade this year, making it one of the largest Armed Forces Day Parades in the nation.
