Shooting his wife in the face during an argument in 2021 has a Lawton man destined to serve 10 years in prison.
Christopher Joseph Hartley, 44, pleaded guilty Friday in Comanche County District Court to a felony count of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon after the charge was amended from shooting with intent to kill, records indicate.
Presiding District Judge Emmit Tayloe sentenced Hartley to the maximum sentence of 10 years in prison. He also has over $8,800 in fines, costs and restitution.
With his plea, Hartley admitted he’d shot his wife during a Nov. 26, 2021, domestic incident at a home in the 2600 block of Northwest 26th Street. She told investigators Hartley shot her twice in the face and once in her right arm while she was on the ground and he was standing over her, according to the probable cause affidavit.
Hartley has been jailed on $100,000 bond since his Dec. 1, 2021, initial court appearance, records indicate. He received credit for time served during sentencing.
