Investigators say a Lawton woman is in jail for allegations she kick-stomped her roommate, an employee at Mabel Bassett Correctional Facility, for not taking drugs into prison.
Daeshawn Brittany Parker, 27, made her initial appearance Tuesday in Comanche County District Court where she received felony charges for maiming and conspiracy to commit bringing contraband into prison, records indicate. The maiming charge is punishable by up to life in prison.
The victim spoke with police Oct. 24 after being assaulted.
The woman said she’d returned home from her job at the McLoud prison when she was confronted by her roommate, Parker. She said Parker wanted her to take drugs into the prison, but she refused, the probable cause affidavit states. The woman said Parker had previously threatened to kick her out of the house if she didn’t follow through but would give her money if she did, Lawton Police Detective Abe Woelfel stated.
When she came home from work that day and tried to talk to her roommate about he situation, she said, Parker pulled her from the couch and began to “kick-stomp “ her head multiple times, the affidavit states. The woman said she had to crawl from the home and got a ride from a friend to the hospital.
She suffered a subdural hematoma to the head, according to the affidavit.
Held on $100,000 bond with the stipulation she have no contact with the victim, Parker returns to court at 3 p.m. Feb. 13, 2024, for her preliminary hearing conference, records indicate.
