The Lawton-Fort Sill Women’s and Open Tournaments were held the last couple of weekends at Twin Oaks Bowling Center and there was a good turnout this year and some good scores as well.

A few of the highs posted during the event include a 771 by Jim Bomboy who rolled games of 255, 257, and 259 during his doubles event.

Tim Lundquist put up games of 280, 248, and 226 for a 754 in his team event, and Chad Perry posted a 752 in Singles and a 750 in team.

GLFS Association Manager Kristina McCoy reported that Derek Bennett rolled his first 700 series during the event this year, putting games of 227, 236, and 248 on the board during Singles for a 711 series off a 181 average.

Billy Smith Jr. posted his first 700 series as well. Bowling in his first tournament as a certified adult league bowler, Smith posted 247, 223, and 254 for a 725 during Doubles with partner Chad Perry.

Standings from the event were submitted as follows:

Taking first place in the team in the Women’s Tournament were Lisa Bomboy, Kristina McCoy, Kerri-ya Claunch, and Leilani Augustine, 2792. Only one place was awarded based on the number of en-tries.

Doubles went to Lisa Tipton-Gass with Amanda Price, and Teri Jester took Singles.

All Events Handicap went to Leilani Augustine, and the All Events Scratch winner was Teri Jester.

The Open event paid three places in the team.

First place winners were “Brooklyn Ball Reviews,” Damon Claunch, Brandon Isom, Matt Casey, and Tim Lundquist, 2903.

Second place went to the team of Derek Bennett, Dave Yett, Brittany Williams, and Robert Hempel, 2882.

Taking third was the team “Thunder Up,” James Middleton, Andrea Halstead, Shane Sanford, and Lee Brown, 2778.

Billy Smith and Chad Perry nabbed the Doubles title, and Derek Bennett took Singles along with All Events Handicap.

This year’s tournament champion with the All Events High Scratch total was Tyler Price.

It is our understanding that winner’s checks are ready for pickup. Contact Jim Bomboy or Kristina McCoy for details.

League Highlights

James Biscaino continued his honors venture, adding a 290 game (eleven in a row) to the list just two days after posting his 30th 300 game.

Biscaino had scores of 197 and 225 going into game three, where he spared in the first frame be-fore going off the sheet for the 290 while bowling in the Suburban League, where several high scores were reported.

Troy Hardin was the league’s top player for series, posting a 750 set on games of 234, 280, and 236. Tim Lundquist rolled 279, 221, and 248 for a 748, and Jeff Janssen sandwiched a 269 be-tween games of 236 and 225 for a 732.

Jim Bomboy neared a triplicate with games of 236, 244, and 244 for a 724. Biscaino finished with 712, Chad Perry started with a 276 to allow for a 706, and Matt Casey came in on the money with 700 even after starting his day with a 255.

Richard Jacoby also rolled a 750 series, his coming from the senior Entertainers League where one open per game made up the end result.

Jacoby scored 246 in game one with a 7 and 2 count in the second frame. Another 7 and 2 were recorded in frame one of game two, leading to a 258, and it looked like he was going to make it in game three without an open until the last throw. That is when the corner pin stood in defiance, leaving Jacoby with his second 246 of the day.

Mark Hill led in the TNT with 735 on games of 238, 279, and 218, followed by Billy Smith who post-ed his second 725 of the week thanks to a 278 middle game.

Chris Dickerson led in the Friday Nite Mixed Rollers with 733, including opening games of 267 and 265, followed by Jason Owen with a 705 that started off with a 267.

Clarence Weber rolled 235, 234, and 243 for the His and Hers high set of 712, and Brandon Hurta finished up with a 267 that put his series at 710 for the high set in the Tuesday Night Mixed.

A shootout on lanes 1 & 2 left Steve Mans with a 708 and Mike Peckinpaugh with a 710 in last Monday’s senior Socialites League. Mans rolled 220, 255, and 233, and Peckinpaugh shot 215, 247, and 248.

Peyton Smith continued to rule in the T-Bird Legends Youth League. Smith rolled 576 last week on games of 129, 253, and 194.

Maddox Swietek was the Oak Trees high roller with a 541, thanks to a 214 closer, and DJ Scott put a 209 together to finish up with a 521 to lead in the U12 HotShots.

Honorable mention goes to Richard Resler for bowling all three games over 100 for a season-high 320 series. Resler has an 87 average and rolled 101, 110, and 109.
