Already wanted for a pair of fast food restaurant robberies, a Lawton man has a new arrest warrant for pistol whipping an a man and shooting into an occupied apartment.
The Comanche County District Court issued a felony arrest warrant Wednesday for Toney Larue Conway III, a.k.a. Pee Wee Longway, 30, for charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, feloniously pointing a firearm, felony discharging a firearm into a dwelling and possession of a firearm after former felony conviction.
Conway is accused of the violent incident the morning of Aug. 14 at Bellaire Apartments, 622 SW Bishop.
The alleged victim told police he’d gone to Conway’s apartment to ask for a cigar and Conway became upset, according to Lawton Police Sgt. Curtis Underwood. Conway followed the man back into his apartment while holding a pistol, the warrant affidavit states. The man told police he told Conway to put the gun down and they could go outside and fight.
The two went outside and began to fight. That’s when witnesses said Conway pistol whipped the man three or four time and video of the incident confirmed it, the affidavit states. Conway then got his roommates, packed his items and was leaving the scene when he and another man were seen shooting into the air and at the apartment, Underwood stated.
Conway has been wanted by the law since July 10 when he received a felony arrest warrant for counts of aggravated robbery with a firearm and possession of a firearm after former felony convictions for the May 27 armed robbery of McDonald’s, 30 S. Sheridan. He is accused of going into the restaurant wearing a ski mask, gloves and a jacket and of pressing a handgun to an employee’s back before pointing the gun at several employees, threatening them and taking off with $13,000 from the cash register and safe, the affidavit states.
Another felony arrest warrant was issued for Conway Sept. 12 for robbery with a weapon and possession of a firearm after former felony conviction for allegations he robbed of Jack in the Box, 2601 Cache Road, the morning of Aug. 16. Investigators said he came in with a handgun and approached two employees working in the back before grabbing one person by the shirt while pointing the gun at the other and demanded the safe and cash registers be opened, the warrant affidavit states. The manager complied and Conway left the business on foot with $600 in cash.
Conway’s prior felony convictions are from Oklahoma County: January 2013, robbery with a firearm and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle; and May 2015 for robbery with a dangerous weapon and possession of drugs with the intent to distribute, records indicate.
Separate $100,000 cash bonds were issued upon his arrest for the three separate cases.
