As the 2023-2024 fall/winter season comes to an end, Matt Casey adds another honor to his tally for the year with a perfect 300 game from week 34 of the Goodyear Mixed league at Thunderbird Lanes.
Casey started the set with a 258 score before putting his seventh career 300 game in the books for game two.
Adult League Highlights
In other news, Brant Hill topped the Early Birds with a 734 on games of 257, 228 and 249 and Quenton Gould led in the Tuesday Night Mixed with a 703 that went 224, 244 and 235.
Honorable mentions go out to Erika McKinzie who made the honor roll for a 534 series on games of 172, 220 and 142, bowled off a 132 average, and to Bill Cox who posted a stair-step series of 669 scoring, in this order, 224, 223 and 222.
Youth Bowling
Youth leagues have ended but the summer session will be starting soon. Parents of interested youth bowlers are encouraged to contact Thunderbird Lanes or Twin Oaks Bowling Center for youth bowling activities throughout the summer months.
Scores from the final week show Ellie Madden with a 113 game, William Hern with a 108 game and William Mullins with a 106 game, all from the TBird MiniShots where bumper rails are up for assis-tance.
The U12 TBird HotShots group reported Cash Hill with games of 132, 154 and 153 off a 113 aver-age for the high series of the day of 439.
And bowling in the TBird Legends, Maddox Swietek put together a 237 for the high game of the day and Brayden Kaplan registered the high series of 529.
No-Tap News
A small gathering of folks were on hand for the weekly senior color pin No-Tap event at Thunderbird Lanes where Cleo Travis put together the handicap high series of 822 to win in the men’s division.
Defending champ, Armour Brown, settled for second with 800 even that included a no-tap 300 game.
Cathy Shuman won for the ladies with 771.
Brown had the high scratch singles set of 731, followed by Herb Scott at 657.
First place winners in the Mystery Doubles event were Margit Augustine with Roy Johnson, 530, Armour Brown with Randy Travis and Gary Webster was paired with Gary Schmieding, who just recently started back to the game, 531.
There were no winners in the Challenge Shots but the few that were in attendance scarfed-up on some strike pot cash. Winners were Herb Scott (X2), Elaine Henderson, Margit Augustine (X2), Barry Morris and Roy Johnson (X2).
Thunderbird Lanes will continue with this senior only event through the summer months for those of you taking off from league play the next couple of months.
Bowlers age 50 and over are invited to join the fun every Friday afternoon at Thunderbird Lanes starting at 1 p.m.
