A Kingston woman police said was pulled over for erratic driving is accused of taking off on a high-speed, drunken escape that came to a crashing end in a Braum’s parking lot.
Brittany Faye Duer, 32, made her initial appearance Thursday in Comanche County District Court where she received felony charges of endangering others while eluding/attempting to elude police and driving under the influence of alcohol – third and subsequent felony offense, and misdemeanor counts of transporting an open container and required method of turning, records indicate.
Lawton Police Officer Jayar Pulad stated he was called around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday to Stripes, 4236 E. Lee, regarding an erratic driver who was possibly drunk. Pulad found the Nissan Armada and made a traffic stop at Mark’s Convenience Store, 3620 E. Lee after seeing the vehicle merge improperly onto Lee Boulevard and drive erratically, the probable cause affidavit states.
Pulad stated he asked the driver, Duer, if she’d had anything to drink because he could smell alcohol. She said she’d had some shots earlier. When asked to step out to conduct the field sobriety test, Duer answered by throwing the Armada into gear and taking off onto Lee Boulevard, according to the affidavit. Police began the pursuit.
Duer was driving up to 100 mph to Sharps Lane before going onto northbound Interstate 44 and then exiting eastbound onto Gore Boulevard, Pulad stated. She continued around 80 mph before driving into the Braum’s parking lot, 2202 E. Gore, and crashing into a vehicle with a father and son inside, the affidavit states. No one was injured and Duer was arrested. A shot glass with alcohol residue was found in the cup holder, according to the officer.
Duer’s blood alcohol contest was determined to be 0.25 following two breathalyzer tests – 0.08 is the threshold for a felony driving under the influence count, according to the affidavit.
Duer has three prior felony convictions: Bryan County, Texas, November 2012, two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol; and from January 2024 for grand larceny, records indicate.
Held on $100,000 bond with the condition she doesn’t drive, Duer returns to court at 3 p.m. July 2 for her preliminary hearing conference.
