Waterline work along Cache Road will disrupt traffic for the next several months.
A crew from Cimarron Construction in Oklahoma City is installing a 12-inch waterline from the 3900 block of Cache Road to Fort Sill Boulevard. On Thursday, crews were working in the 3900 block of Cache Road, inching toward Northwest 38th Street. They won’t stop until they reach Fort Sill Boulevard, which may be in 2025.
Farther west on Cache Road, crews have portions of the curbside eastbound lane blocked off between Northwest 67th Street and Northwest 64th Street. The construction zone had extended from Northwest 67th Street to Northwest 52nd Street earlier in the week, but the work zone has since been reduced.
Crews will spend the next two weeks sawing and locating utilities in the area, according to Ernest Hartshorn, City of Lawton onsite representative for the waterline project. After Labor Day, crews will get started working on the waterline itself.
The road closures on that portion of Cache Road may change with the time of day, according to Hartshorn.
