Walters, former state school board members form Trump Advisory Committee

OKLAHOMA CITY — Oklahoma State Superintendent of Public Instruction Ryan Walters said he and two former state school board members have formed the Trump Advisory Committee.

Walters said he, Kendra Wesson and Katie Quebedeaux are forming the committee to fight the liberal Washington, D.C., swamp that has leaked into Oklahoma’s executive branch. Wesson and Quebedeaux will serve as co-chairs of the committee, leading the charge to take back Oklahoma schools from the federal Department of Education, Walters said.

The women were two of the three members removed from the state board of education earlier this week by Gov. Kevin Stitt, action that angered Walters.

“I am proud of our mission on behalf of parents, students, and educators to create a world-class education system in Oklahoma,” said Quebedeaux. “We are prepared to work closely with families, educators, and communities to ensure every Oklahoma child has a bright future and access to the quality education they deserve.”

Quebedeaux is a 4th generation Oklahoma native, and a Guymon High School and Oklahoma Panhandle State University graduate. She has experience working with students from preschool through high school.

“The United States has shown a desire for transparency in government proven by the presidential election,” said Wesson. “Secrecy in education hurts taxpayers’ pocketbooks, educational outcomes and most of all, leaves children vulnerable to predatory behaviors in the classroom.”

Kendra Wesson is a member of the Caddo Nation and native Oklahoman. She attended nine different schools from kindergarten through grade 12, which she said gave her a keen understanding of how important school choice is in Oklahoma’s rural communities.

“The Trump Advisory Committee is not here to play politics, said Walters. “We are here to fight on behalf of the hearts, minds and souls of Oklahoma students, their families and our educators. The weak will be exposed. The corrupt will be held accountable. And Oklahoma’s children will finally have access to the educational journey they deserve.”
