The Southwest Oklahoma Military Officers Association of America (SWOK MOAA) is having their annual fundraiser from noon to 4 p.m. September 21 at 103 NE 20th St.
Hosted by VFW Post 5263, the fundraiser will have a stir fry meal with a dessert and drink for $10, according to an email by Rocky Samek, Public Affairs Officer for the organization. Guests can eat at the Post, take it to-go or have curbside delivery.
“All personnel ‘working’ the event are members of SWOK MOAA,” Samek said.
There will be a 50/50 raffle, where if $100 in tickets are sold for the raffle and someone’s ticket is drawn, they win $50.
Money raised will support local veteran organizations and programs such as the Lawton Fort Sill Veterans Center, the Cohen Military Family Clinic, the Veteran’s Resource Center and many more, the email said. They will also give a Leadership Award to a deserving ROTC cadet at Cameron University.
“MOAA is a veterans advocacy organization,” Samek said. “It is the nation’s largest and most influential association of military officers. At the national level, MOAA’s 360,000 members are the voice for benefits earned by all of those who’ve served in the military, regardless of rank. At the local level, SWOK MOAA members are ambassadors in our community (and) the state and local levels.”
All proceeds will go to support local veteran organizations and programs.
