The Lawton Police Department’s Traffic Division is investigating two overnight vehicle versus pedestrian collisions in the area of Northwest 67th Street and Gore Boulevard, including one that is a fatality.
That area of Cache Road has been the site of several pedestrian versus vehicle collisions over the past few years, according to Constitution records.
FIRST & FATAL INCIDENT
Police and first responders were called the first time around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday to Northwest 67th Street and Cache Road regarding a vehicle versus pedestrian collision. The person struck was taken to a hospital with severe injuries, according to police. That person would later die.
While the scene was being cleared up and investigators were working to determine what happened, another person was struck in the roadway around 2 a.m. Thursday. That person received severe injuries.
INJURY COLLISION LEADS TO CHARGES
A 19-year-old Fletcher woman was charged Thursday with causing great bodily injuries while driving under the influence.
Lawton Police Sgt. Matthew Whittington stated he arrived to Northwest 67th Street and Oak Avenue to find the injured man unconscious, with a severe head injury and having difficulty breathing. A Nissan Altima was stopped with four people standing outside. The officer went to the car and smelled a strong odor of marijuana and marijuana found inside, the probable cause affidavit stated.
Nancy Le Son said she was driving and had struck the man in the roadway, Whittington stated. She said she’d smoked around 9 p.m. and that she has a medical marijuana card and was arrested, the affidavit states. A breathalyzer test showed she had a 0.05 blood alcohol content.
Son, 19, of Fletcher, made her initial appearance Thursday in Comanche County District Court where she was charged with a felony count of driving under the influence — great bodily injury, and a misdemeanor count of driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol, records indicate.
Held on $20,000 bond, Son is not allowed to drive without a valid driver’s license and an ignition interlock device.
