RANDLETT — Two individuals from Scotland, Texas, were hospitalized following a hit-and-run wreck Saturday night in southern Cotton County, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
Arthur H. Hemmi was pulling out of a private drive southbound onto Oklahoma 36 in a Chevrolet Traverse shortly before 9:30 p.m. when the vehicle was struck by a southbound unidentified vehicle, Trooper Zachary Johnson reported. The impact sent the Chevrolet off the road to the right about 4 miles west/southwest of Randlett while the second vehicle kept going.
Arthur Hemmi, 89, of Scotland, Texas, was flown to United Regional Hospital in Wichita Falls, Texas, where he was admitted in stable condition with internal trunk injuries, Johnson reported.
The passenger, Helen A. Hemmi, 82, also of Scotland, Texas, was taken by ambulance to United Regional where she was admitted in stable condition with a neck injury, the report states.
The pair were wearing seatbelts, according to Johnson.
Failure to yield while pulling from a private drive is identified as the collision’s cause.
