DUNCAN — A tracking device used by a property owner led to the discovery of a Lawton couple up to no good, according to investigators.
Duncan Police Officer Taylor Norton stated he was called to a burglary in progress shortly before 1 p.m. Monday at 7100 Nickel Drive and spoke with the property owner. He told the officer he’d been tracking some suspects with a tracking device he’d placed inside some property, the probable cause affidavit states.
After clearing the building, investigators turned their attention to a red truck parked outside. The truck was registered to Jason Carl Johnson and a woman. A short time later, investigators found Johnson and a woman who said she was Danielle Wilson and they were detained. It wasn’t long before police identified Wilson as Danielle Annette Young.
The man and woman told police they’d parked the truck by the building they thought was abandoned so they could go for a walk, the affidavit states. Johnson and Young were arrested and taken to the Duncan Police Department for questioning. Investigators found methamphetamine on Johnson as well as paraphernalia.
During an impound search of the truck, a box full of miscellaneous metal items was found as well as the property owner’s tracking device, according to the affidavit.
Young, 36, of Lawton, made her initial appearance in Stephens County District Court Tuesday for a felony count of second-degree burglary, records indicate.
Johnson, 47, of Lawton, also made his initial appearance Tuesday for a felony count of second-degree burglary, as well as misdemeanor charges of possession of meth and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Both Young and Johnson received $5,000 bonds. Young bonded out Wednesday, records indicate.
The couple return to court at 9 a.m. Feb. 28, 2024, for their preliminary hearing conferences.
